Donato J. “Danny” DeSanti, 69, died Thursday, Nov. 13, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
Mr. DeSanti was born and raised in Astoria, Queens, N.Y., and lived in Elizabeth for four years before moving to South Plainfield in 1970 where he lived for 27 years before moving to Rossmoor in 1997. He was self-educated and a life-long learner and served in the U.S. Army as a sharpshooter. He worked in the construction industry as a bricklayer in New York before he was a truck driver and later ascended through the ranks, ultimately becoming a union leader and vice president of the Eastern Region for the International Brotherhood of Teamsters based in North Brunswick. He retired in 2003. He had numerous hobbies including fishing, golf, woodworking, gardening, wine making, canning, traveling and reading, but more than anything, he loved spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by three daughters, Dr. Michelina DeSanti and her husband, Anthony Greenberg, of Sparta, Donnamarie McGlynn and her husband, Eugene, of Medway, Mass., and Gina Oranchak and her husband, Robert, of Hillsborough; his son, Dr. Joseph V. DeSanti and his wife, Pamela, of York, Pa.; his brother, Vincent DeSanti and his wife, Dana, of Columbia, Md.; 11 Grandchildren, and many other extended family and close friends.
A funeral service will be 1 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, 205 Rhode Hall Road, Monroe, N.J. 08831, 732-521-0555.
