The Trenton Fire Department’s hazardous materials team was called to investigate a suspicious powder that a Pembroke Court couple brought to the Lawrence Township Police Department headquarters at 2:36 p.m. Nov. 11, police said.
One of the victims had received a package in the mail the day before, and when she opened it, discovered a white powder inside, police said. She was concerned that it might be a biological agent and wrapped the package in a plastic bag, which she subsequently brought to the Police Department.
The package was double-bagged by police and left outside police headquarters until the Trenton Fire Department’s hazmat team arrived, according to reports. The Trenton hazmat team tested the white substance and determined that it was methamphetamine.
Police said the package had been addressed to a London, England, residence but was inadvertently delivered to the Pembroke Court residence. The package originated in New York City, police said.
