LETTER: Fischer thanks voters for support

Now that the election is over and I’ve had a chance to think, relax for a day and collect my thoughts, I want to thank the residents of Manville for placing their confidence in me and electing me to the Borough Council.
I would like to thank Peg Schaffer and Gary Hirsch at the county level for all their support, as well as Joe Lukac and his wife Sharon for running the campaign at the local level, what an outstanding job they did.
I’m looking forward to working with the present town council and mayor, most of them friends I’ve known for many years, and all having the best interest of Manville at heart. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter if you’re a Democrat, Republican or Independent, we’re all residents of the borough, charged specifically with making this town a better place to live, and a timeline to do it in, and I’ll do my best to bring positive change.
I would like to thank Kathy Quick for the great job she has done while in her seat, her dedication and overall charm, she will be missed. I would like to wish Ron Skirkanish and Rich Onderko the best of luck in the future, knowing we’ll hear more from Ron. As my running mate I can personally say he has integrity unmatched these days.
In closing, I know I’ll run into many situations I’m not ready for yet, but I’m confident I’ll do enough research, discuss it with enough people and debate internally so it’s the right decision for Manville, both short and long term, I won’t let you down.
