Two vehicles were reported stolen in the township between Nov. 14 and Tuesday.
Between noon and 3 p.m. Nov. 14, a $16,000 black 2007 Nissan Sentra was reportedly taken from the parking lot of the L building of Windsor Castle Apartments. On Tuesday, a black 2004 Ford F-150 pickup truck, valued at $15,000, was reported stolen from the parking lot at McGraw Hill between 8:10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Jorge Bustillo, 27, of Windsor Castle Apartments, was charged Nov. 12 with obstructing police investigation and hindering apprehension.
Police said they responded at 9:50 p.m. to a report of a missing 14-year-old New York City girl hiding in an apartment, and that Mr. Bustillo was inside and gave them false information about the girl’s location. Police said they found two active warrants in Mr. Bustillo’s name, one for $2,000 out of South Bound Brook and another for $219 from Perth Amboy.
Mr. Bustillo was released to the custody of South Bound Brook police in lieu of bail. The girl was found hiding on the balcony, and was turned over to authorities from the New York City Administration for Children’s Services, police said.
Someone reportedly broke the locking mechanism on the driver’s side door of a black 2005 Lexus LS at 6:15 p.m. Nov. 13 while the car was parked in the lot of the CVS Pharmacy on Route 130. The attempt to gain entry caused $400 in damage.
Someone reportedly entered a locker at Gold’s Gym between 3:15 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Nov. 16 and stole a personal credit card and more than $100 in cash from a wallet inside.
Hightstown
Police said three borough teens stole a van and drove it all the way down to Georgia before being caught.
At 4 p.m. Monday, a 17-year-old boy and two 15-year-old girls entered an unlocked van parked at Prince’s Plumbing on West Ward Street and stole its keys, a New Jersey driver’s license and a credit card, police said. At 8 a.m. Tuesday they returned to the van, stole it and drove the vehicle down to Georgia, where they were apprehended by the Georgia State Highway Patrol, according to police. The three teens were being held in Georgia on Thursday waiting to be turned over to their respective parents or guardians, according to police. The owner of the van did not press charges, police said.
Police responded to a report from Custom Bandag Tires on Monmouth Street on Monday that someone had stolen 150 vehicle tires valued at $35,000 on Sunday or Monday.
Police said they responded to a call Nov. 12 at the 100 block of Second Avenue after a resident reported that a ground-floor window screen had been cut between Nov. 1 and Nov. 8. Police said no entry to the residence was gained.
Ned Tobias, 30, of Lawrence, was turned over to borough police by the Trenton Police Department at 6:26 p.m. Nov. 12 on a $370 traffic warrant.
Police said Jorge Lopez-Quintero, 21, of East Windsor, turned himself into borough police on a $1,000 contempt warrant at 10:09 p.m. Nov. 12.
Jeffry Horning, 35, of East Windsor, was charged Nov. 14 with possession of fewer than 50 grams of marijuana and a number of motor vehicle offenses. Police said they stopped his car at 1:10 a.m. on North Main Street for driving 43 m.p.h. in a 25-m.p.h. zone. The officer detected a strong smell of alcohol from Mr. Horning, police said. While waiting for a tow truck, the borough police K-9 indicated there were drugs in the car’s trunk, and an investigation revealed 26 grams of marijuana in a baggie, according to police. Mr. Horning was also charged with possession of narcotics paraphernalia, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated in a school zone, reckless driving, speeding, careless driving, and failure to inspect vehicle.
Michael Jaramillo, 21, of East Windsor, was charged Saturday with theft by deception. Police said they responded to a report from the owner of Anthony’s Chicken and Ribs on Franklin Street at 10:17 p.m. that Mr. Jaramillo, while a delivery driver, was adding $5 tips to credit card receipts from delivery customers. Mr. Jamarillo committed 20 to 25 such acts while employed, police said. Police did not know how long he was employed at the establishment. He also was charged with fraudulent use of a credit card
Martin Stachowsky, 58, of Mechanic Street, was charged Sunday with theft of moveable property. Police said Mr. Stachowsky entered the borough Public Works building on Oak Lane at 7:15 a.m. and filled his personal vehicle with gasoline from three 5-gallon cans.
