‘Twilight’
    Opening this weekend at the AMC Hamilton and UA Movies at MarketFair in West Windsor is “Twilight,” the film version of the first novel in Stephenie Meyer’s enormously popular vampire saga for young adults. Expect pandemonium at the cineplexes.
    “Twilight” introduces 17-year-old Bella Swan, who moves from Phoenix to Forks, Wash., and finds her life in danger when she falls in love with Edward Cullen, a drop-dead gorgeous young vampire — whose family has renounced the drinking of blood, however. And off goes the storyline …

‘Gloria!’
    Two choirs from Westminster Choir College of Rider University will present a program entitled “Gloria!” at the Princeton University Chapel on Saturday (Nov. 22) at 8 p.m.
    Under the direction of James Jordan, the 40 voices of the Westminster Williamson Voices and the 117 voices of the Westminster Schola Cantorum will be joined by organist Ken Cowan in performing works that anticipate the joy of the upcoming holiday season while asking the listener to consider the realities of the human condition.
    The program will include “Dona Nobis Pacem” (Grant Us Peace) by Ralph Vaughan Williams, “Pater Noster” (Our Father) by Igor Stravinsky, and “Magnificat” by James Macmillan. Mr. Cowan will perform Jaakko Mantyjarvi’s “And Hit a World, At Every Plunge,” which was commissioned for the 2008 American Guild of Organists National Convention.

‘Francesco’
at St. Ann’s
    On Saturday, Dec. 6, at 7:30 p.m., at Saint Ann Roman Catholic Church in Lawrence, Frederick Olessi’s original Christmas Mass in Celebration of St. Francis of Assisi will be presented, with Father Vincent Gartland presiding.
    The Mass will contain a living Presepio, i.e., Nativity Scene, complete with animals, in honor of the first Nativity display created by Saint Francis himself in the 13th Century.
    The public is invited — children, especially.
    The part of Saint Francis will be played by Robert Bartolino. The spoken and vocal respondents will be Frederick Olessi and Robert Bullington. Teresa Lim will direct the music, which has been composed by the young Austrian composer-conductor Christoph Campestrini.
    In his long career, Mr. Olessi has provided libretti for many composers for operas, cantatas and choral works. in other religious settings.
