Margaret ("Markie") Frederiksen,
nee’ Anna Margaret Miller, passed away at the University Medical Center at Princeton on Friday evening , November 21, 2008.
Born in Moulton, Iowa on July 28, 1912, she was the youngest of the six children of John Wesley Miller and Annie Mary Hebson. Margaret was raised in Des Moines, Iowa where she attended school and Drake University. She taught school in Iowa and later in Princeton, New Jersey.
Margaret met her husband, Norman ("Fritz") Frederiksen in Drake Colorado and they later married on December 26, 1936 at Grace Methodist Church in Des Moines. They moved to Syracuse, NY, where her husband was completing his Ph.D. in Psychology at Syracuse University. The young couple moved to Princeton, NJ where they lived their entire lives together until Norman’s death in 1998. Mrs. Frederiksen was active in organizations in Princeton including the University League, the P.T.A. and League of Women Voters.
Together they raised two children, identical twins, John Roland Frederiksen and his partner, Barbara White, of Berkeley CA and Seattle, WA and Carl Hebson Frederiksen and his wife, Janet, of Montreal, Canada. Markie is survived as well by her five grandchildren, Carl, Tatiana, Soren, Andrew and Erica. She will be sorely missed by all of her growing and loving family.
