Melvin Larry Baum, 60, Hamilton
died Sunday at his residence. Born in New York City, Mr. Baum was a former resident of Philadelphia, West Windsor, and Lawrenceville.
He was a graduate of Pratt Institute and was the proprietor of Icon Exhibit and Display Corp. in Hightstown before retiring. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and created many of the maps used during the Vietnam War. During the past eight years he was a supporter of Veterans for Peace. Mel campaigned for President-elect Barack Obama, and even managed to vote for him from his hospital bed on the day of the election.
Running, nature, the arts, and fine food were passions in Mel’s life. He adored his children and step-sons and was intensely proud of all of them. Mel’s quick wit, wonderful sense of humor, and warmth will always be treasured by all who knew him. He will be remembered with deep warmth and affection by his many friends and extended family members.
Surviving are his beloved family: a son Andrew Baum of Henderson, Nevada, a daughter Emily Baum of La Jolla, California, step-children Michael Drew and wife Erin, Timothy Drew and wife Emy, step-grandson Gavin Drew, his mother Hilde Baum of Pembroke Pines, Florida, and former wives Naomi Drew of Lambertville, NJ and Donna Moule of Villanova, PA.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Unitarian-Universalist Church at Washington Crossing. Memorial contributions may be offered to The Leukemia Lymphoma Society (Donor Services) P.O.
