Between the Lines: December library events

The Burlington County Library Bordentown Branch Youth Services Department offers a variety of programs this summer. Registration is necessary for all programs. A Burlington County library card is required. Please note that registration begins two weeks prior to the date of the program.
    The address for the Bordentown Library is 18 East Union St., Bordentown. Registration can be done in person or by calling 609-298-0622. Library hours are Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., and Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
For children
    Chess Club — Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 4 p.m. for kids in third grade and older. Come to the library for a “pick up” game of chess with your friends and neighbors. Bring your own chess set if you have one.
    Family Board Games — Thursday, Dec. 4 at 4 p.m. for kids 3 years and older. Come with your friends and families for an afternoon of brainpower. Bring your favorite game or play one of ours.
    Infant/Baby Storytime —Friday, Dec. 5 at 10:30 a.m. for babies from birth to 15 months old. Babies with caregivers are invited to join us for stories, songs, movement music, toys and socialization activities.
    Pajama Time — Tuesday, Dec. 9 or Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 10:30 a.m. for kids ages 3-5 years old. You may register for either session. Children are invited to wear their jammies and bring a favorite stuffed animal to hear stories, sing songs, and make a fun craft.
    Time for Twos: Getting Cozy — Tuesday, Dec. 16 or Wednesday, Dec. 17 at 10:30 a.m. for children 24 to 35 months. You may register for either session. Wear your pajamas and bring a favorite stuffed animal to hear stories, sing songs and make a craft.
    5th Annual Gingerbread House Craft — Tuesday Dec. 16 at 4 p.m. for kids 5-10 years old and their families. Get creative and make colorful, yummy, gingerbread house creations. Join us for this popular annual event.
    Advanced Gingerbread House Creations — Wednesday, Dec. 17 at 6 p.m. for teens 11-17 years old. Join us for a fun-filled evening of delicious architectural design and creativity.
    After School Craft — Thursday, Dec.18 at 4 p.m. for kids ages 8-12 years old. Get creative, get crafty, and come join the fun.
    Toddler Time — Friday, Dec. 19 at 10:30 a.m. for toddlers 16-23 months old. Bring your toddlers and join other caregivers for stories, songs, music, finger plays and socialization activities.
    Wii for Tweens — Saturday, Dec. 27 at 10:30 a.m. for kids ages 8-12 years old. We have Wii, so come and enjoy this interactive game system.
    Dora, Thomas and Puppet Tales With Mr. Malcolm — Monday, Dec. 29 at 10:30 a.m. for kids ages 3-6 years old. Join us for an exciting, interactive storytelling of all these kids’ favorites.
    Mr. Malcolm Presents The Spiderwick Chronicles — Monday, Dec. 29 at 2 p.m. for kids 7-12 years old. Join us for an exciting, interactive storytelling of “The Field Guide” and “The Seeing Stone.”
For adults
    New Class: Tai Chi on the weekend. By popular demand, the Bordentown Library will be offering an Introduction to Tai Chi and Qigong on Saturday, Dec. 27 from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
    Tai chi is an ancient martial arts form that today is practiced widely for its health and relaxation benefits. Those in search of well being and a way to combat stress have made tai chi one of the most popular low-intensity workouts around the world.
    The following basic computer classes are being offered at the Bordentown Library Technology Center:
    Learn the basics of computer hardware and software. Find out how to get around in a Windows environment, work with toolbars, and manage files. PC Basics will be offered on Tuesday, Dec. 2 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.. Beginners only, and mouse skill is required.
    Learn the basics of e-mail. Create and manage a free Yahoo! e-mail account. Email Express will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 3 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Mouse skill is required.
    Learn how to get around in a web browser. Find information using search engines. Discover online databases and popular Web sites. Introduction to the Internet will be offered on Tuesday, Dec. 9 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.. Mouse skill is required.
    Get stuff done. Learn how to upload files, deal with PDFs, use some online tools, and more. Internet for Real Life will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 10 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Mouse skill is required.
    Word for Beginners will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 16 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.. Learn the basics of this popular word processing program. Find out how to create a simple document, edit and format text, correct spelling errors, and open and save files. Mouse skill is required.

Library services and programs are held at our newly renovated facility at 18 E. Union Street in Bordentown. Library hours are Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday 1 to 5 p.m.
