City Hall project
Saturday, Nov. 29 — The Old City Hall Restoration Project is holding an Open House Fundraiser on Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the city’s Christmas tree lighting. Residents are encouraged to tour Old City Hall to see what it looks like and what work needs to be done. Come see this wonderful old building and help us bring it back to its glory days. Coffee, cider and cookies will be available for purchase. The Old City Hall Restoration Project is a group recently formed to fundraise and help the Bordentown City to pay for restorations to the Old City Hall.

Saturday, Dec. 6 — Mount Zion AME Church, 36 E. Burlington St., will hold its annual Christmas bazaar at Hope Hose Fire Station, 150 W. Burlington St., Bordentown City, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The bazaar features gifts, vendors, bargains and food.
Movie night
Saturday, Dec. 6 — St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 45 Crosswicks St., will hold a movie night at 7 p.m. in the School Hall. Bring your own chairs, blankets, food, drinks and guests (no animals please!) and we will watch movie snippets before the main movie “Polar Express.” Last one for this year!
‘Abigail Adams’
Saturday, Dec. 6 — The General Mercer Chapter of the DAR will present “Abigail Adams:Dearest Friend” at 1 p.m. in the Crosswicks United Methodist Church on Ward Avenue in Crosswicks. The public is invited to this free event. An actress from the American Historical Theatre will portray Abigail Adams, the out-spoken wife of John Adams and mother of John Quincy Adams.

Saturday, Dec. 6 —Thorntown Creek Trail Day: Volunteers needed to help maintain walking trail and clean up trash along Thorntown Creek in Bordentown City. Holiday bazaar
Saturday, Dec. 6 — The Florence Township Elementary PTA is sponsoring a Holiday Bazaar, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., at the Roebling Elementary School. Come do your shopping, as a wide variety of crafters and vendors will be present. Kids can make their own crafts, for $1 each, while you shop. Refreshments will be sold. ‘Nutcracker’ ballet

House tour
Saturday, Dec. 13 — Historic Bordentown City holiday house tour, 3 to 7 p.m., featuring private homes, public buildings and neighborhoods decorated and open for the special event. Through Sunday, Dec. 14 — The First Presbyterian Church of Bordentown, 420 Farnsworth Ave., has a number of events scheduled this month.
The evening of Dec. 10 is a family night at Jester’s for the church, and anyone who mentions the church or the Boychoir concert to their server will have 10 percent of the cost of their meal donated to the church. The church will be open for the Bordentown Historical Society Holiday Tour of Homes on Dec. 13, and will host the annual Christmas Canata on Dec. 14, followed by the annual Silver Tea. The Second Annual Blue Christmas service will be held Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. This service is designed for those who grieve or struggle through the holiday season, and is co-hosted by Fieldsboro United Methodist Church and Bordentown Home for Funerals. Christmas Eve services will be at 7:30 p.m.

Sunday, Dec. 14 — The Bordentown Library Book Discussion Group will be showing a film in December instead of reading for a break from the holiday hustle and bustle. Come watch “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner” with Sidney Poitier, Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy on Dec. 14 14 at 2 p.m. Enjoy popcorn, snacks and drinks during the film. Cat volunteers needed
Bordentown City Cats has collected eight adorable kittens from different sites around the city. They are ready for their new life in a loving home. Volunteers needed
The Mansfield Township Police Department is currently recruiting volunteers for a domestic violence response team. The team members will work in conjunction with the police to provide support, information and referral at the time of a domestic violence crisis.Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, have access to transportation, possess a valid drivers license, be willing to serve a minimum of four 12-hour shifts per month, and submit to background investigations, including fingerprinting. A 40-hour mandatory intensive training course, to be held over an eight-week period during evening and weekend hours is required and will be provided to successful applicants. An understanding of domestic violence issues is a plus, as is a bilingual capacity.Interested citizens should contact Patrolman David Mueller at 609-298-4411 or stop at the Mansfield Township Police Department to pick up an application.
Volunteers needed
Volunteers are needed to join the River’s Edge Domestic Violence Response Team. Participants will be called or paged by police to speak with a victim of domestic violence and provide them with options. Volunteers will receive 40 hours of initial training provided by Providence House of Burlington County.Volunteers must be 18 years or older and a resident of Florence, Burlington Township or Burlington City, and must have a valid N.J. drivers license, available transportation and no criminal history. They must be available for a minimum of two 12-hour shifts per month.Anyone interested can pick up an application at the Florence Township, Burlington Township or Burlington City police stations, or contact Patrolman Brian Boldizar at 609-499-3131.
WIC program
The Bordentown County WIC (Women, Infants, Children) Program currently has a clinic in the Shiloh Baptist Church, Bordentown.The WIC is a federally funded supplemental nutrition program for pregnant and breastfeeding women, infants, and children under 5 years old.
