Cynthia Hsu Syers, 81, died Nov. 24 at the University Medical Center of Princeton.
Born in Amoy, China, she was the daughter of a Chinese diplomat in the Chinese Foreign Service. Her family was stationed abroad in Great Britain, Germany, and the final station in Japan prior to the war. She attended private schools and graduated from Tokyo Women’s College.
She worked for the NJ Pension Division and retired after 37 years of service as supervisor of data processing. She was a member of St. George’s Roman Catholic Church in Washington Crossing,.
She is survived by her husband John D. Syers; a daughter, Rita; sons, David and Bruce and his wife Helen; grandchildren, Erin and Blair Seifert, Guinevere, Diana, Alicia, Erica, Elizabeth and Mathew Syers, Pamela Bates and her husband Elwood; a great-grandson, Elwood Bates IV; and family in Japan, four brothers and a sister, plus nephews and nieces.
There will be a private funeral service. Her ashes will be interred in the family plot in Ewing Church Cemetery.
