EAST WINDSOR: Township receives state grant

EAST WINDSOR – The township has been awarded a $290,000 state grant for work to Hickory Corner Road.
The grant will be used to resurface Hickory Corner Road between Route 130 and Oak Creek Road to include the intersection, as well as other associated improvements to curbing, driveway aprons, drainage, upgrade and repair of handicap ramps at required intersections, and replacement of all line striping and road markings such as crosswalks and stop bars, according to a press release from Mayor Janice Mironov.
It comes from the state’s Transportation Trust Fund.
”This section of Hickory Corner Road is an important and much-used major municipal roadway which has deteriorated and is in need of improvements,” wrote the mayor.
Hickory Corner Road, a major township roadway, is home to a branch of the Mercer County Library, Anker Park, Wiltshire Park, the Bear Brook Pathway, and the preserved Lee Turkey Farm. Hickory Corner Road intersects Route 130 and, on the east side of Route 130 has major shopping areas including Home Depot, Wal-Mart and the newly constructed Windsor Crossing Shopping Center. The road also serves several school bus routes as well.
