The benefit for our son, Jonathan Lee, was amazing. It was beyond what we could have ever imagined. It took the help of many kindhearted people to bring such a big event together. I wanted to thank every person, volunteer, teacher, family and child that attended and helped. Your kindness and support means so much to my family and I.
It has been a long 20 months of emotional ups and downs, but it’s so refreshing to know that we have so many friends pulling for us. I hope that everyone who attended had as much fun as we did. It’s been awhile since my husband and I have laughed so much. It was a night of magic and of putting all worries aside to just soak up all the positive energy and to enjoy what is life all about, being with friends and family laughing. Jonathan said it best, “This is the life!”
Jonathan always seems to be so positive and happy, there is rarely a day that he is upset or sad. Last year we were admitted to the hospital on Dec. 26 for 10 days. New Year’s Day 2008 I was very depressed and upset to be away from my husband and our other children, Justin, and Jena. Jonathan woke up that morning, looked at me and said “You know what mom, this hotel is not that bad.” So I said to him, “You think this hospital is a hotel?” He answers, “Yes, they bring you food, clean the room, bring anything you want, they have toys. What more can you ask for?” I looked at him and just started laughing. He amazes and inspires me everyday.
I hope that Jonathan’s journey inspires everyone around him. He truly is my hero. As you can see, he doesn’t let anything get him down, not even cancer. If a six-year-old boy can do that, then there’s nothing that we can’t do. Keep the faith.
