Former Manville High School Principal Mary McLoughlin traveled from Clinton to address and welcome the 19 students inducted into the National Honor Society Nov. 20 with parents, students and staff attending.
”It is a privilege to speak here tonight to the finest students at Manville High School,” Ms. McLoughlin, now the director of special services in the North Hunterdon School District. “Induction into the National Honor Society is a milestone in the bright futures you all have waiting for you. You have all worked diligently through the years to demonstrate excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service and character.”
”Good luck for your continued success and congratulations for achieving this great honor tonight,” she told the students.
In order to be eligible for the National Honor Society, students in the 11th- and 12th-grade must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.4, and meet high standards of leadership, service and character. The students are evaluated and recommended by a group of the school’s teachers.
This year’s inductees include Scott Alpizar, Cassey Agans, Douglas Bradley, Dawid Broyzna, Charlie Burkowski, Andrew Franko, Russell Grimm, Brittany Hanod, Katelyn Harodetsky, Drina Hartmann, David Janovsky, Sarah Kondash, Joshua Michalski, Dana Mortensen, Kelsey Perhach, Sylwia Pupek, Laura Beth Rodzinak, Kevin Sellar and Nina Tchir.
They joined members Rebecca Burke, Bonnie Burris, Yanela Cruz, Amanda Furka, Takiyah Hodge, Daniel Kirkaldy, Angelika Lazur, Natasha Marchick, Pawel Maziarz, Ryan McKee, Arielle Mizov, Daniel Pierrot, Derek Sanchez, Casey Shields, Travis Williams and Matthew Zangara.
Officers for the 2008-2009 school year are President Rebecca Burke, Vice-president Derek Sanchez, and Secretary/treasurer Takiyah Hodge.
