Committee dedicated to honoring veterans

On behalf of the Marlboro Township Veterans and Volunteers Committee, I wish to thank all those who attended and supported our recent Veterans Day events.

The Marlboro Township Veterans and Volunteers Committee held events to honor and thank our hometown heroes.

Thanks to the Department of Veterans Affairs New Jersey Health Care System for hosting a community outreach veterans forum at the Marlboro Recreation Community Center to reach out and educate our veterans of the many benefits and health care provided to them.

A flag-retirement ceremony was held at the Marlboro veterans memorial to properly retire our colors. Thanks to the Jewish War Veterans Lt. Seth Dvorin Post 972 for sponsoring the flag ceremony. The community also participated by dropping off any tattered and faded flags.

Also thanks to the young men and women of the Marlboro Police Explorers. Special thanks to the Robertsville Volunteer Fire Company for standing by during the ceremony.

The committee also attended the New York City Veterans Day parade and the dedication of the World War II memorial in Trenton.

The Veterans and Volunteers Committee of Marlboro Township dedicates itself to recognizing the unselfish contributions of the men and women who serve or have served in the United States military and those who through volunteer service as firefighters and emergency medical technicians protect our families and quality of life.

By honoring our veterans who served at home and abroad and remembering all those who made the supreme sacrifice of life for freedom, we will stand together and our nation will become even stronger.

Thank you, veterans
