Sophie “Sadie” (Bystrek) Samuel, 92, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, at her home in Jamesburg.
Ms. Samuel was born and raised in Helmetta and lived in Sayreville for several years before returning to Helmetta in 1950 and moved to Jamesburg in 1953. She was a parishioner of St. James the Less R.C. Church, Jamesburg, and a former member of their altar rosary society and the Jamesburg senior citizens club.
Her husband, Stanley “Sam” O., died in 1988. She is survived by her son, William of Jamesburg; three daughters, Barbara Baird and her husband, Edward, of Pinehurst, N.C., Janice Muller and her husband, Edward, of Jamesburg, and Elaine Calabro and her husband, Lawrence, of Lakewood Ranch, Fla.; two brothers, Stanley Bystrek of Monroe, and Thomas Bystrek and his wife, Bernice, of East Brunswick; one sister, Bernadette Press, of Spotswood; five grandchildren, Edward Baird and his wife, Carla, Jacqueline Baird, Jason Muller, Ryan Muller and Kelli Craparotta and her husband, James; one great granddaughter, Brooke; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. today (Friday), Dec. 5, from the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, 205 Rhode Hall Road, Monroe, N.J. 08831, 732-521-0555. A funeral liturgy will be 10 a.m. at St. James the Less R.C. Church, Jamesburg followed by interment in the parish cemetery.
