The Churchill Junior High School Drama Club will present “Holiday Shmoliday,” an original play by club adviser Lynne Elson, at 7 p.m. Dec. 18 and 19 in the school cafetorium, 18 Norton Road, East Brunswick.
The play tells the story of a young man named Samson who is forced to find a “cool” Hanukkah song for his choir to sing or else the school bully will beat him up and he’ll lose any chance with the girl of his dreams. At first Samson is reluctant to celebrate his Jewish roots, but a surprise visit from The Dreidel Dude takes Samson and his pet fish Gefilte on a journey to explore other cultures’ celebrations.
