Hightstown Police Beat, Dec. 12

    John J. Porter, 43, of East Windsor, was apprehended Dec. 5 on a $190 warrant from Robbinsville. Police said they arrested him at 11:07 p.m. after a random plate search on his vehicle. He was released after posting bail.

    Nicholas M. Kowalec, 18, of Hamilton, was charged Dec. 5 with driving while intoxicated. Police said they stopped his car at 11:55 p.m. after it nearly struck a police patrol car. An investigation revealed open containers of alcohol in the vehicle, and his passenger, Christopher Restrepo, 19, of Hamilton, was charged with underage possession of alcohol, police said.
    Mr. Kowalec also was charged with driving while intoxicated underage, driving while intoxicated in a school zone, consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle, reckless driving, careless driving and failure to yield.

    Richard P. Paterson, 46, of Mercer Street, was charged Saturday with driving while intoxicated, resisting arrest, and numerous other motor vehicle offenses.
    Police said they stopped his car at 10:09 p.m. on Morrison Avenue for having no license plates. Mr. Paterson drove away from officers, but was stopped a few moments later a few blocks away, police said.
    He also was charged with defiant trespassing, driving while intoxicated in a school zone, reckless driving, careless driving, being a suspended driver, driving with a suspended driver’s license, having an unregistered motor vehicle, having an uninsured motor vehicle, having fictitious license plates, and refusal to submit breath samples.
    He was taken to the Mercer County Correction Center in Hopewell in lieu of $5,000 bail.

    Andrea Renee Armour, age and address unknown, was turned over to borough police Monday by the Trenton Police Department on a $1,514 warrant, police said. She also had a $600 warrant from East Windsor, according to police. She was taken to the Mercer County Correction Center in Hopewell in lieu of the bail.

    Orlin G. Coyago-Sancho, 23, of Springcrest Drive, and Gilbert Omar Leon, 25, of Westerlea Arms Apartments, were charged Monday with simple assault and disorderly conduct. Police said both men assaulted a person at Westerlea Arms Apartments at 5:38 a.m. The victim refused medical treatment, police said.
    Mr. Leon ran away from officers and hid in a stranger’s apartment across the street before being apprehended, according to police.
    He also was charged with resisting arrest and defiant trespassing.

    The owners of two vehicles parked on Summit Street reported items stolen from them Saturday or Sunday. A backpack containing a digital camera and three lenses valued at $2,400 was reported missing from one; $30 cash and loose change was reported missing from the other.
