As statewide conservationists, we are busier this season than ever before. The tough economy and weak real estate market have created big opportunities, and we must act fast.
In this market, there are more eager sellers and fewer buyers for farmland and open space. That means we have a chance to protect land that a year ago was unaffordable and ripe for development. But bargain seekers are emerging – and state conservation funding has run out – we need your help to protect critical lands before it is too late.
We are optimists. In the long term, we know that saving land saves money. Preserved lands help stabilize the local tax base by reducing the need for schools, roads, utilities and public services. Preserved lands pay their own way by providing “ecosystem services” – cleaning and filtering water for drinking, reducing flood risk, keeping air clean, and helping reduce the impact of climate change.
For five decades, New Jersey Conservation Foundation has preserved land and water across the state, protecting the landscape and quality of life for residents today and for future generations. We have the experience and ability to take advantage of this year’s exceptional conservation opportunities. And, we need your help.
Please give as generously as you can. We know it’s a difficult year, but we hope you’ll join us in this great cause. It’s easy to contribute online – we invite you to send a tax-deductible contribution now.
Thank you for your love of the environment and your support of our work.
