Food pantry
    Businesses on Farnsworth Avenue in Bordentown City will again partner with St. Mary’s food pantry to collect non-perishable groceries and personal hygiene products for the area’s needy.
    Look for the decorated boxes in front or inside many stores and businesses. As tough as it is for most of us at this time it is much worse for others and the food pantry needs our help.
Blood drives
    Saturday, Dec. 27 — Columbus Baptist Church will sponsor an American Red Cross blood drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The drive will take place in the Fellowship room at Columbus. To make an appointment ccall 973-270-6458.
    Tuesday, Dec. 30 — Temple B’nai Abraham and Sarah Seidel Sisterhood will sponsor an American Red Cross blood drive on Tuesday, Dec. 30 at the Carslake Community Center, Senior Services Room, 207 Crosswicks Street, Bordentown, from 2:30 to 8:30 p.m. To make an appointment to give blood on Dec. 30, please call 298-6485 or go to www.pleasegiveblood.org/donate and enter sponsor code 537.
New Year’s Eve party

Mass schedule
    The Solemnity of Mary Mass schedule for St. Andrew’s Church, 2489 Monmouth Road, Jobstown, is 4:30 p.m. Dec. 31 and 9:30 a.m. Jan. 1. The church can be reached at 609-723-4243.
Fairy princess ball
    Friday, Jan. 2 — From 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., Crosswicks Community House will hold an enchanted ball with fairy princesses, beautiful ballerinas, fans, waltzing and magic. Girls age 4 and up are invited to attend. Call Meg McMenamin for more information or email: [email protected].
Casino trip
    Sunday, Jan. 4 — The Knights of Columbus No. 570 will sponsor a bus trip to the Showboat casino in Atlantic City. A bus will leave St. Mary’s Church parking lot at 4:30 p.m. for a four-hour stay. The cost is $25 per person and each attendee will receive $25 in cash. For reservations call Bob, 298-5530.
Donations sought
    Saturday, Jan. 10 — “Re-Gift for Goodness Sake” will benefit the Trenton Rescue Mission & St. Mary’s Food Pantry. Visit them online at www.rescuemissionoftrenton.org and stmarybordentown.parishesonline.com.
    Donations will be accepted from 9 a.m. to noon.
    Items will be picked up by the Rescue Mission & Food Bank between noon and 1 p.m. that same day.

Book discussion

    The Bordentown Library Book Discussion Group will be reading “Change of Heart” by Jodi Picoult on Jan. 14 at 7 p.m. and “A Thousand Splendid Suns” by Khaled Hosseini on Feb. 11 at 7 p.m.
    Hardcover books, including large print copies, are available for loan.
Shrimp Nights
    Due to the way the first Friday falls in January, the Shrimp Night at the Willitts-Hogan-Tonne American Legion Post 39 in Roebling will not be held in January. However, the Post would like to say “Thank you” to all of our friends and neighbors who continually attend this monthly shrimp night and to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and a happy and joyous New Year. The shrimp night will resume on Feb. 6.
Weight Watchers
    Weight Watchers of Bordentown has moved to the Bordentown Elks 2085 lodge located at 11 Amboy Road in the lower ballroom. Weigh-in starts at 5:30 p.m. follow by the meeting at 6 p.m. Membership is open to everyone. Come and join now before the winter spread sets in.

    Tuesdays — Nicotine Anonymous meetings are held every Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m. on the second floor of the gym of Divine Word Missionaries, 101 Park St., Bordentown. The meeting is open to anyone who has the desire to stop using nicotine. There are no dues or fees.

    Wednesdays — St. Marys School hosts $1,000 bingo at 30 Elizabeth St., Bordentown City. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and games begin at 7 p.m. Food is served.

    First Saturdays — Light of Hope, a family support group, meets the first Saturday of each month at 6 p.m. at Rose of Sharon Lutheran Church, 42 Chesterfield-Jacobstown Road (Route 528).

Widows and widowers
    First Sundays — Widows and Widowers of Burlington County hold social evenings of music and dance the first Sunday of every month from 7 to 10:30 p.m. at the Korean Presbyterian Church, 147 Route 130 North, Bordentown. Admission costs $7 for members and $10 for guests.
