Police say a burglary and two attempted burglaries that occurred in Kendall Park on Dec. 19 may be connected.
One successful break-in followed by two unsuccessful attempts happened during a short period of time before police were alerted.
At 8:30 p.m., the residents of 41 Kingsley Road contacted police after returning home to find their residence had been burglarized. Assorted belongings were taken from the home, including camera equipment, jewelry and cash, according to police.
At 9:42 p.m., a resident of nearby 6 Newman Road contacted police, reporting they had returned home to find someone had attempted to gain access into their home. Police said there were footprints in the snow, and two rear window screens had been pushed up, but entry was not gained.
A patrol officer followed more footprints in the snow that led to 11 Berwick. Once there, police saw someone had attempted to gain entrance to the home through a rear window. A resident there told police she had been home all day and didn’t hear anything unusual.
Police reported some evidence was collected in an attempt to identify the suspect.
Detectives still are investigating the case. Detective Joe Halmi is assigned to the case. Anyone with information should contact him at 732-329-4000, ext. 7441.
