Cherish the Ladies Cherish the Ladies Monmouth University’s Performing Arts Series will present Cherish the Ladies on Friday, Feb. 13, at 8 p.m. in Pollak Theatre, West Long Branch. Irish Step Dancers will complement the performance.

Taking their name from a traditional Irish jig, the group’s unique blend of virtuosi instrumental talents, beautiful vocals, captivating arrangements and stunning step dancing combines all the facets of Irish traditional culture in an immensely entertaining package. The Shrewsbury Players Dessert Theatre will hold open auditions for Fred Carmichael’s comedy spoof “Don’t Mention My Name” at 7:30 p.m. Monday and Wednesday, Jan. 12 and 14, at the Presbyterian Church House, 352 Sycamore Ave., Shrewsbury. The Jewish Community Center’s Youth Performing Arts series will present “Dear Edwina, Junior” Saturday, Jan. 10, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 11, at 1:30 p.m. at the JCC Axelrod Performing Arts Center, 100 Grant Ave., Deal Park. The kids’ musical features 13- year-old Edwina Spoonapple and her troupe of performers as they present their “Advice-a- Palooza Festival.” Sweet, smart and tuneful, the musical appeals to kids ages 5-14. The Monmouth County Arts Council will hold its 30th Annual Juried Exhibition Jan. 17- March 1 at the Monmouth Museum on the campus of Brookdale Community College in Lincroft. An opening reception will take place Saturday, Jan. 17, 3-5 p.m. This annual exhibition embraces the arts, savors the creativity of many talented artists and has become a tradition at the Monmouth Museum. Calling all 3-D Artists! The February show at the Guild of Creative Art in Shrewsbury will be an open juried show for 3-Dimensional Art. Entries will be accepted in any media, including glass, wood, paper, clay, metal, etc. Work may include installation, video, multimedia, photo collage, conceptual, nonrepresentational and abstract pieces that can hang on the wall or from the ceiling or stand alone on the floor or pedestal.

Calling All Young Performers. At 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, musicians and performers age 18 and younger will take the stage for the first annual “Sounds of the Highlands Jr.”

The Atlantic Highlands Arts Council sponsors the concert, which will offer audiences an opportunity to enjoy the work of outstanding young musicians and dancers, storytellers and poets, actors and others.
