Dorothy Varney Niece, 84, died Jan. 2 at the Fairview Care Center, Chestnut Hill, Pa.
Born in Hempstead, N.Y., she lived in Titusville for 52 years.
Mrs. Niece was an elder and active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Titusville and was organist there from 1956 to 2007. She was also treasurer of the church’s Women’s Association from 1980 to 2006.
Daughter of the late Francis H. and Maude Varney, widow of the late Elmer K. Niece, and sister of the late Helen G. Vandenhoogen, Emil E. Grambow and Frederick F. Grambow, she is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela N. and the Rev. David M. Powles of Philadelphia, Pa., and Judith N. and Dr. Jeffrey L. Varner of Lansdale, Pa.; a step-son, Herbert O. Niece of Stockton; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two step-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Titusville with the Rev. Dr. R. William Shaub, former pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery, Rosemont.
Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Wilson-Apple Funeral Home, Pennington Circle, and Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church.
