NJ Palomino’s Innovative Savings for 2009

By Amanda Roveda
New Jersey Palomino’s new board of directors has been working diligently to help its membership cut show fees for the 2009 season. The New Board which consists of President Martha Hoff, 1st Vice President Denise Quick, 2nd Vice President Boots Cassie, Secretary Therese Perrette and Treasurer Betsey Karl has developed some innovative ideas for 2009. While class fees as well as all day show fees have been reduced, along with camper hook up fees, newly reduced cross over fees for the day and for year end awards nominations have been introduced. This will hopefully allow more people to enter divisions which needed help in the past years including Novice Youth classes, and Amateur Select classes, which in turn will increase exhibitor’s ability to achieve year end awards for those smaller divisions. 2009 President Ms. Hoff stated, “We are well aware of the costs associated with showing in New Jersey, and have taken input from our membership to heart. We are doing everything we can to help people continue to show. Even though we have reduced a number of fees, this still won’t help our organization unless people continue to come out and support us. While we are willing to sacrifice profits from the shows which are used to maintain the running of our organization and purchase year end awards, we hope that by dropping these fees we can help out our valued supporters while attracting new members to our shows, and some out of state members as well.”
The first show in the NJPEA circuit will be held May 1, 2 and 3, with 3 judges each day, followed by their second circuit held over August 14, 15 and 16, 2009. Both circuits will continue to be held at The Horse Park of New Jersey in Allentown. Dust off those four legged golden nuggets standing in your pasture and come out to win some fabulous prizes in 2009!! Membership information and show bills are available at www.NJPalomino.com or you can contact club President Martha Hoff at 732-236-4623.
Another innovative approach to helping NJPEA was proposed by Boots Cassie who is also a member of New Jersey Quarter Horse Association (NJQHA). Since NJPEA and NJQHA wanted to continue the tradition of holding a year end awards banquet, both organizations worked together and have combined their banquets to ensure each organization would have enough people to book a nice banquet hall. This year’s banquet for both organizations will be held on February 7, 2009 at the Lakewood Country Club.
