ROUTE 130 “VISION” COMES TO LIFE AT VISION TEAM SUMMIT
Following two years of collaboration & exploration, the Mercer Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Mercer Transportation Management Association (GMTMA) are proud to release the Route 130 report "A Vision for the Future". The release of the report will take place on February 11, 2009 during an 8am Breakfast Summit meeting at Grainger’s, 18 North Applegate Drive in Robbinsville. In addition to the release of the report, Brent Barnes, Director of Statewide Planning, NJDOT, will provide a keynote address followed by a panel discussion by East Windsor Mayor Janice Mironov, Hamilton Mayor John Bencivengo and Robbinsville Mayor David Fried regarding recent developments on the corridor.
With the monetary assistance of a NJ Smart Growth Grant, GMTMA and the Chamber were able to bring together stakeholders and experts to explore opportunities and challenges along the corridor. “This process was very collaborative with excellent input from government, the business community and residents, as well. From focus groups to charettes, the participation was outstanding”, noted Sandra Brillhart, Executive Director with the GMTMA. Added Vision Team, Chairman, Jeff Hall, Esq., “We are pleased with the process and the outcome. Now comes the real work- seeking ways to implement the findings”. To that end, the Chamber and the GMTMA will be seeking additional funding toward projects that have been identified in the report. “Our goal is to identify one area where all three municipalities can agree and seek an implementation grant”, noted Brillhart.
This past fall the report was delivered to all three municipal government bodies and received a “thumbs up”.
