Larry I. Carr, 52, of Monmouth Junction was charged with theft on Jan. 13. An employee at Tiger’s Tale restaurant reported seeing a pickup truck driving off from behind the restaurant with a spare exhaust ventilation hood in its bed, police said. The truck driven by Mr. Carr was located in the Montgomery Center Shopping Center, police said. Mr. Carr told police he was a self-employed metal scrapper and had taken the item believing it to be trash. The ventilation equipment was returned to the Tiger’s Tale.
Michael Szymanik, 18, of Hillsborough, was issued a summons for careless driving on Jan. 13 at Mill Pond Park. At 4:26 p.m., police received a complaint of a motor vehicle being driven erratically in the parking lot. Responding police officers saw a vehicle matching the description provided exiting leaving the park. The vehicle was stopped, and Mr. Szymanik said that he was “doing donutsdoughnuts” in the parking lot to test new brake equipment he had just installed on his vehicle.
