METUCHEN — Police are looking for a white male with short brown hair and a short trimmed beard, possibly a goatee, who attempted to lure an 11-year-old girl as she was walking to school on the morning of Jan. 15.
The incident occurred on Whitman Avenue, police said.
The victim told police that when she was walking to school, a white four-door oldermodel vehicle, possibly a Toyota, with black bumpers stopped next to her.
The suspect, who the victim described as having a “weird” accent, opened the passenger side window and asked the victim if she “needed a ride.”
The victim said that when she ignored the suspect and continued walking toward her school, the suspect turned his vehicle around and drove past her again, the police report said.
At that point, the victim said, she was walking up to her school and did not observe where the suspect went, the police report said.
Police ask anyone with any additional information to contact Detective J.P. Therrien at 732-632-8500.
