By Somerset County Board of Freeholders
Somerset County residents and others interested in learning more about the county’s programs and services can subscribe to a new e-newsletter launched this month by the Board of Freeholders.
“We’re very pleased to be able to add this e-newsletter to our growing toolbox of electronic communications,” said Freeholder Director Rick Fontana. “We already have almost 700 subscribers who were signed up for online copies of our former print newsletter, and we hope many more people will take advantage of this new, free e-publication.”
The county’s Web site (www.co.somerset.nj.us) has been continually updated, redesigned and enhanced since its inception in 1997. Since 2003, the freeholders have used the GovDeliveryâ email-subscription and content-management service to keep residents informed of routine announcements as well as emergency information such as road closings and severe weather. The e-newsletter also is being sent via GovDelivery.â
The debut issue of the e-newsletter featured articles on the freeholder board’s annual reorganization meeting, heating assistance available to eligible county residents, the county’s award-winning recycling program, the new energy audits grants and recreational grants programs, various county bridge projects and other topics.
The e-newsletter also has links to the county homepage, the sign-up page for free email bulletins on more than 80 items, the county’s online photo gallery and the tourism Web site (www.VisitSomersetNJ.org) sponsored by the Somerset County Business Partnership. Future issues will spotlight special events as well as ongoing programs.
