It is time that the mainstream media stopped showcasing the delusional rants of right wing Republicans in deep denial about the current state of their party and the devastation wrought by the Bush administration. (Jan. 23: “Imagine presidents as Orwellian pigs.”)
Mark Welch’s diatribe likening President Obama’s administration to George Orwell’s Animal Farm, while beating that long-dead horse, 1984, is not the most ludicrous Looney Tune I have heard from republicans. That prize goes to the woman who told me Obama won by hypnotizing the electorate as proven by a “prominent academic study.” However, it is time that this nonsense be relegated to the far reaches of the blogosphere, where we won’t have to read it. While I am sure the Packet strives to present a variety of opinions these rants don’t enlighten anyone and publishing them just enables these people to continue in what has become a truly pathological state of denial.
Conservative Republicans are always demanding personal responsibility — from other people. I would say to these disgruntled dingbats — put away your denial, delusions and crackpot theories and take responsibility for the fact that our country is in a serious moral and economic crisis because the party that you supported put us there. You did nothing about it because you thought it was just fine and dandy to wage an unwinnnable war, lie, torture and steal us blind. It is no one’s fault but your own that Barack Obama won by a wide enough margin so that you could not again rig the election. It is no one’s fault but yours that we are mired in war, recession and that until President Obama’s election, had lost credibility worldwide. It is no one’s fault but yours that your party is now a marginalized collection of corporate thieves, religious fanatics, and that wonderful new euphemism for “ignorant” — “low knowledge” people.
Wake up, Mr. Welch. It isn’t 1984 anymore and your party’s eight years of infamy is finally over.
