Two Miami residents won tickets to Superbowl XLIII in an auction to benefit Hillsborough Township Police Officer Dave Wilson, who was diagnosed with leukemia in 2008.
James Wynkoop and Nick Brnilovich won the tickets, which were donated by former New York Giant, and Hillsborough resident, Brad Benson.
The tickets were put on eBay by the Hillsborough Township PBA Local 205, and sold for a total of $3,200 when the auction ended Tuesday.
Bids for the tickets started at $2,000, and 26 bids were made in total.
A blood drive was also held to benefit Officer Wilson on Jan. 20, and, because of an overwhelming response, a second one has been scheduled for Feb. 2 from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the multipurpose room of the municipal building, on South Branch Road.
Officer Wilson is a five-year veteran of the police department, having joined in 2003 after graduating from the Somerset County Police Academy and earning two bachelor’s degrees from Pennsylvania State University, double majoring in psychology and criminal justice.
After receiving his diagnosis in November, Officer Wilson has been receiving chemotherapy treatments at New York Presbyterian Hospital.
