As Edison comes to the final catastrophic year of Mayor Choi’s term, Democrats are wary of another term that would further divide the party and, more importantly, create inconsistent policies that continue to hurt the Edison taxpayer. [After] three-plus years marked by deception and decision-making that has contradicted itself, Edison is now in desperate need of someone who actually has experience, knowledge, and the leadership to rise above the idiosyncratic thought process that is not only evident through the mayor and his appointed cronies, but those he has skillfully placed in council positions.
Democrats in the upcoming weeks will have an opportunity to move Edison forward as they will choose through a process a candidate to head the ticket for Edison mayor. Undoubtedly there are a few who would make good candidates. However, 12-year veteran Councilman Anthony Massaro has proven his ability to lead and introduce measures that actually benefit Edison residents. Equally important, he has prevented and revealed the real scope of measures constantly introduced by Mayor Choi’s handpicked council candidates. As a school administrator for over 25 years, he has brought to the council and would bring to a mayor’s candidacy the skill to actually run a township as large as Edison. During his reign, Mayor Choi has added layers of bureaucracy and an additional payroll of appointees equal to a million dollars. It would be a welcome change to have an individual as Councilman Massaro that can actually do the job, not delegate. Having retired as a school administrator, Councilman Massaro as mayor would have the time to dedicate to the town.
As a councilman, Anthony Massaro has had to deal with the Choi council shell game. Rising above it, he continued to introduce resolutions to limit tax increases in Edison. More recently, he introduced a resolution that would help avoid moves that will allow further voluntary residential development in the township. Edison Democrats need to support Councilman Massaro. His vision, capacity to understand, compassion and leadership make him the obvious choice as a mayoral candidate. Without an obvious choice, it could again allow a rogue activist as Mayor Choi to get in the back door.
