Tiger Schulmann’s Mixed Martial Arts of East Brunswick, Loehmann’s Plaza Shopping Center, Route 18, will host “Bully Proof,” a free bully-prevention workshop for community children and parents, 1-2:30 p.m. Feb. 7.
The free event will focus on interactive skits, demonstrations and crowd participation to teach children the skills and confidence they need to combat and discourage bullying. Schulmann’s black-belt instructors will lead the workshop.
Specific topics will include what to do when encountering a bullying situation, how to communicate bullying situations to teachers and family, how to handle physical confrontations and how to be confident in a nonaggressive way.
Parents, who are strongly encouraged to attend with their children, will be coached on how to identify signs that their child is being bullied and on how to keep the lines of communication open on the subject of bullying.
Bully Proof is part of Tiger Schulmann’s ChildsafeSM program, established in 1992 to build awareness about child-safety issues and to foster stronger communication between parents and children.
Parents may call 732-249-2467 for more information and to reserve a space for their child.
