No charges were filed against driver of second vehicle

A 73-year-old Solebury Township, Pa., woman died from injuries sustained in a two-car accident on Route 29 near Washington Crossing-Pennington Road, Hopewell Township, Friday afternoon, police said.
The deceased was identified as Joan E. Martindale, of Aquetong Road.
No charges were filed against Harry Drayton, 51, of Indian Mills Road, Shamong, the driver of the other vehicle.
Hopewell Township police Lt. Lance Maloney said the investigation of the crash revealed that Mr. Drayton was traveling north on Route 29 and approaching Washington Crossing-Pennington Road (Route 546), when Ms. Martindale pulled into the northbound lane of Route 29 from the Delta gas station parking lot at 1:22 p.m.
The lot is at the corner of Routes 29 and 546.
Mr. Drayton applied his brakes, but was unable to avoid a collision and struck the driver’s side of Ms. Martindale’s Toyota.
Ms. Martindale was extricated from the vehicle by the Union Fire Company, of Titusville, and was transported to the Capital Health System, Fuld Campus, where she was pronounced dead.
Mr. Drayton, who was uninjured, also was evaluated at Helene Fuld and later released.
Route 29 is one lane in each direction. The road surface was clear and dry at the time of the accident, police said.
Routes 29 and 546 were closed for two and half hours while police conducted the investigation.
The Washington Crossing Bridge was closed to Pennsylvania traffic entering New Jersey.
The New Jersey State Police, New Jersey State Park Police, Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission personnel, Upper Makefield Police and Union Fire Police assisted with detouring traffic.
The crash is being investigated by Officer Michael Sherman and Detective Kevin Zorn of the Hopewell Township Police Department, along with Detective Donald Santora of the Mercer County prosecutor’s office, and the New Jersey State Police Commercial Carrier Inspection Unit.
Also responding were Hopewell Valley Emergency Services Unit, West Trenton Fire Company, Capital Health System paramedics, New Jersey State Park Police, New Jersey State Police, Mercer County prosecutor’s office, and NJDOT Incident Management personnel.
