HILLSBOROUGH: Forte leads HHS Hall class

   Hillsborough High School announces its Hall of Fame Class of 2009. A dinner will be held Saturday March 28, 2009 at 5:00 p.m. at the Roycebrook Country Club.
   Former HHS athletic director Rocky Forte leads this year’s class. His career began at HHS in 1978 when the school competed at a Group 2 level with 12 varsity sports. When he retired in 2003, the school grew to compete at a Group 4 level with 21 varsity sports.
   Rob Richard led the HHS boys’ soccer team to a 224-152-38 record from 1980-2001. During his coaching tenure, he led the team to six conference titles and one Group 4 sectional championship.
   Margret Eckerstrom helped the field hockey team capture a Group 3 state championship in 1982. She also received honorable mention for the Coaches Choice Award for Group 3 in 1982.
   Erin Crawford was the 100-meter hurdle and 400-meter hurdle Skyland Conference and Somerset County champion in 2003. She was also a member of the All-Conference, All-County and All-State teams.
   Wrestling star Tom Pouliot was a two-time District 18 champ and a county champ in 1996. Pouliot also starred in football, baseball and track and field during his scholastic athletic career.
   Steve Hess, a football and lacrosse standout, was a three-time All-Conference, All-County and All-State team member. He was also listed as an All-American his senior year.
   Ron Farneski was a football standout at HHS. He was named to the All-County and Group 2 All-State team in 1976.
