With a full complement of members on board, Township Council set about filling vacancies on several township advisory boards and committees last week — including the Planning Board and the Zoning Board of Adjustment.
The council held off on filling the openings on the planning and zoning boards because of its own vacancy, created by the December 2008 resignation of former Township Councilman Mark Holmes. The planning and zoning boards canceled their January meetings.
The Lawrence Township Democratic Municipal Committee appointed former Township Councilman Greg Puliti to fill out the rest of Mr. Holmes’ term. Mr. Puliti was sworn into office at the council’s special meeting Jan. 28.
The five Township Council members — Democrats Pam Mount, Michael Powers and Greg Puliti, and Republicans Bob Bostock and Rick Miller — voted unanimously on all of the appointments, except for the lone opening on the Ewing-Lawrence Sewerage Authority.
Township Council appointed Keith Dewey of Gallo Court to serve a four-year term on the Planning Board, ending in 2012. The council also appointed David Maffei of Lawrenceville Road to serve as first alternate. His term expires in 2010.
The council appointed Peter Kremer of Laurel Wood Drive and Stephen Brame of Princeton Pike to four-year terms on the Zoning Board of Adjustment. Bruce Kmosko of Juniper Court was named as first alternate and John Gladwell of Heritage Way was named second alternate. Mr. Kmosko’s term ends in 2010 and Mr. Gladwell’s term expires at the end of this year.
At the Environmental Resources Commission, Karen Vincent-Lavagna of Ketterer Court was appointed to complete an unexpired term that ends this year.
Kim Taylor of Fountayne Lane and Michael Tkacs of President Avenue were named to two-year terms on the Municipal Alliance on Drug and Alcohol Abuse. Their terms end in 2010.
Township Council filled four vacancies on the Recreation Advisory Committee. George Ferenchik of Green Avenue, Sigmund Zegarski of Vanderveer Drive and Robert Dalle Pazze of Dustin Drive were named to three-year terms that end in 2011. Stacey Gallagher of Merritt Drive was appointed to fill an unexpired term that ends in 2010.
Michelle Tkacs of President Avenue was appointed to a two-year term on the Open Space Advisory Committee. The term ends in 2010.
And at the Public Safety Advisory Committee, Kyle Collins of West Long Drive and John Gladwell of Heritage Way were appointed to two-year terms that end in 2010.
But in a vote that split 3-2 along party lines, Joseph Cermele was named to a five-year term on the Ewing-Lawrence Sewerage Authority that ends in January 2013.
