Manville High School’s Project Graduation an all-night, drug and alcohol free event that allows the graduating class to celebrate the end of high school will get a big boost next week, as the school’s Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSA) hosts a semi-formal Valentine’s Day Dinner Dance.
The event is planned for 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Feb. 14 at the Veterans of Foreign Wars post. Tickets cost $45 for a couple and $25 for a single person, and include a buffet dinner and dancing.
High school juniors and seniors and community members are invited to the dance, Mary Ellen Zangara, a dance organizer, said. Table reservations for parties of eight people will be accepted at the dance, she added.
Advance tickets are recommended, Ms. Zangara said. For tickets or further information, contact Ms. Zangara at 908-526-5568 or Ed Komoroski at 908-725-1995, or e-mail [email protected]
The proceeds from the event will fund Manville High School’s first Project Graduation, which will take place immediately after the school’s June 19 graduation ceremony, Ms. Zangara said, and will be held at the school.
”We don’t have the hundreds of kids other high schools have,” Ms. Zangara said. “We’re actually holding ours at the school since we could not get a place to hold it.”
Currently, the PTSA is meeting with entertainment companies to determine activities for the night, though Ms. Zangara said the group is considering movies, laser tag, a DJ, and other activities. Food would be provided at the event as well.
”There’s going to be different activities all night long,” Ms. Zangara said.
Since the PTSA sponsors the event entirely, the group is looking for local businesses to help with the costs, and planning several additional fundraisers Ms. Zangara said. Interested parties can contact Ms. Zangara or Mr. Komoroski, or attend the PTSA’s next meeting. The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Feb. 19, in the Manville High School library.
