MONTGOMERY — A 25-acre parcel of land in the township near the Sourland Mountain Preserve was acquired by the county this week
The Somerset County Board of Chosen Freeholders approved the $1.08 million purchase at its meeting Tuesday night.
Township Mayor Louise Wilson said was pleased with the purchase of the property, which was formerly owned by Lawrence and John Wnek.”The county has been after that piece for a long time,” she said. “It’s virtually surrounded by Sourland Mountain Preserve parkland.”
According to the resolution authorizing the purchase, the land was identified by the county’s “Parks, Recreation and Open Space Master Plan” as an important part of the Sourland Mountain Preserve project.
