CHURCH DEDICATES PHASE ONE EXPANSION AND RENOVATION
After years of planning and problem solving, and after a year of destruction and construction, the people of Christ the King Lutheran Church, 3330 Rt. 27, in Kendall Park, NJ, will celebrate the completion of the first phase of their multi-phased expansion program on Sunday, February 22, at a 10:00 AM service of dedication.
Presiding at the service and dedication will be The Rev. Dr. E. Roy Riley, the New Jersey Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America congregations in New Jersey. The service will be followed by a luncheon on site.
This first phase provides the congregation with a new Gathering Area for fellowship and education, new offices and administrative space, large handicap accessible restrooms, and upgraded utilities and mechanical systems. New landscaping will be installed when the weather permits.
Christ the King Church was begun in 1960 by persons moving into the new Kendall Park and Franklin Park developments. They met in local schools until the building was built at 3330 Rt. 27, in 1964. The original building remained in use basically unchanged for forty-five years. The current expansion was begun in January 2008 in order to accommodate the congregation’s growing membership and ministry.
On Sunday, February 22, the people of Christ the King will also recognize those members who were present for the dedication of the original building on April 19, 1964, and the many persons who have spend tireless hours working to bring this first phase to completion.
