Former cross country and trak champion Brian Harshman and former three-sport standout Tori Sensi have advanced to the second round of the Montgomery High’s Greatest Athlete contest.
Harshman received 66 percent of the vote to defeat Suzanne Rooney in the matchup with the highest voter turnout yet in the MHS contest. Rooney finished with more votes than any other comepititor to date, but received just 33 percent of the vote.
Sensi received 54 percent of the vote to narrowly defeat Mike D’Allegro.
Two more matchups are now underway in the contest. In one Lisa Robbins, the first girl to score 1,000 points at Montgomery, will take on Johnny Rooney, a varsity performer in cross country, basketball and baseball and now the head varsity softball coach. In the other matchup, record-setting football quarterback Kevin Watson faces Nancy Cianfrocca, a soccer, basketball and softball standout for the Cougars.
