The Burlington County Library Bordentown Branch Youth Services Department offers a variety of programs. Registration is necessary for all programs. A Burlington County library card is required. Please note that registration begins two weeks prior to the date of the program.
The address for the Bordentown Library is 18 East Union St., Bordentown. Registration can be done in person or by calling 609-298-0622. Library hours are Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
For children
Wii for Teens — Get out of the house and get down to the library to play games on our Nintendo Wii. Come hang out and play games like Guitar Hero III, Dance Dance Revolution II, and Playground. The program will be held Saturday, Feb. 28 at 3 p.m.
Time For Twos: With A Hug And A Kiss — Nothing feels better than a hug and a kiss from someone you love. Join us for stories, songs and a lovey dovey craft. Sign up for one of two sessions: Tuesday, Feb. 17 or Wednesday, Feb.18, both at 10:30 a.m. For children 24-35 months old.
After School Craft — Get creative and crafty at 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19. For kids ages 7-12.
Baby Time — We welcome babies 12-15 months and their caregivers for stories, songs, music, finger plays and socialization activities at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 20.
Toddler Time — Bring your toddlers and join other mothers and caregivers for stories, songs, music, finger plays and socialization activities at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27. For toddlers 16 to 23 months.
Chess Club — Come to the library for a “pick up” game of chess with your friends and neighbors on Wednesday, Feb. 25 at 4:30pm. Bring your own chess set if you have one. For kids age 7 and older.
For adults
Yoga and Relaxation — Join Deepinder Ramsi on Sunday, Feb. 15 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. This class is for both men and women. Please bring a mat or blanket and wear comfortable clothes. Registration is required.
Internet for Real Life — Get stuff done. Learn how to upload files, deal with PDFs, use some online tools, and more on Tuesday, Feb. 17 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mouse skill is required.
Beginning Stamping: Make and Take Workshop —The Bordentown Branch Library will teach you the basics of stamping. This program will teach you basic techniques that you can use to make your own cards and crafts at home. You’ll leavethis fun program with two cards and envelopes that you can give to loved ones and friends. The event will be on Wednesday, Feb. 18 at 6:45 p.m.
Introduction to Tai Chi and Qigong — By popular demand, the Bordentown Library will offer a weekend Tai Chi program from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 21. Tai Chi is an ancient martial art form that today is practiced widely for its health and relaxation benefits. Those in search of well being and a way to combat stress have made Tai Chi one of the most popular low-intensity workouts around the world. Qigong is an ancient Chinese system of postures, exercises, breathing techniques and meditation. Qigong is easy to learn and enjoyable to do.
Genealogy Workshop: Join us on Tuesday, Feb. 24 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. If you are new to the world of genealogy and don’t know where to start, or if you are a seasoned researcher, join us for this informative evening. Each workshop will focus on a different genealogy topic.
Wii for Seniors — Video games are no longer just for kids. This is a program for seniors interested in trying out the latest entertainment rage at seniors clubs and retirement communities: the Nintendo Wii. Sign up to try your hand at Bowling or Playground Games, or you can flex your mental muscles with puzzle games like Big Brain Academy and Boom Blox. No video game experience required, only the ability to have fun. The next program will be Wednesday, Feb. 25 at 10:30 a.m.
Moms’ Night Out: Chocolate Tasting Party — Join other moms, grandmoms and aunts for a delicious evening of chocolate tasting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25.
VITA, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program — This program will be available for appointments at the Bordentown Branch Library this year. The appointment hours for the volunteers will be Mondays from 10:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m., Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesdays from 10:15 a.m. to 6:15p.m., and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
To take advantage of this free tax service, you must make an appointment in person or by telephone. (No walk-ins.) Prior to your appointment, there is a mandatory IRS form that must be completed. You can pick the form up ahead of time or come fifteen minutes prior to your appointment to complete it. In addition to this form, you (and your spouse) must bring a government issued photo identification, your Social Security Card or Individual Tax Identification number (ITIN), copies of all forms (W-2, 1098, 1099 forms), amounts of any other income, child care provider’s identification number, amounts/dates of estimated or tax payments made, and bank documents showing routing and account numbers if you are requesting direct deposit/debit.
