The Partnership for Prescription Assistance (PPA) “Help Is Here Express!” is coming.
On Feb. 17 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., the bright orange tour bus will be parked at 89 N. Main St., Lambertville, in front of the office of Fisherman’s Mark, a nonprofit social service organization that is sponsoring this free event.
The “Help Is Here Express!” is touring all 50 states, Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico reaching out to the many Americans who are uninsured, underinsured and struggling to meet the cost of prescription medications. The bus is equipped with computer terminals and mobile phones so people can find out if they may be eligible for getting help with their prescription medications. Specialists will be on board to make sure the application process is quick and easy.
The service is free, confidential and offers one single point of access to information on 475 public and private patient assistance programs, including nearly 200 programs offered by pharmaceutical companies. More than 40 of the assistance programs focus on the medication and health care needs of children. The program also assists patients with chronic diseases in learning about the types of new medicines in development that may help them.
The PPA is sponsored by America’s pharmaceutical research companies who are working with doctors, pharmacists, other health care providers, patient advocacy organizations and community groups to educate patients. To find out more about PPA and its programs, visit www.pparx.org or call toll free 1-888-4PPA-NOW. To learn more about programs for children visit kids.pparx.org.
Fisherman’s Mark is holding the event as a springboard to its workshop series, “Health Starts at Home,” which will include programs on Living with Diabetes, Cooking for Special Diets, CPR, Red Cross First Aid, and Navigating Your Way through the Exercise Maze. The series runs from March through June and is open to the community. For more information, call 397-0194. To learn more about Fisherman’s Mark visit www.fishermansmark.org.
