Navy Seaman Christine A. Cimock, daughter of Robin Lehmann of Bradenton, Fla., and Allen Cimock of Howell, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. During the eight-week program, Cimock completed a variety of training which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness. The capstone event of boot camp is “Battle Stations.” This exercise gives recruits the skills and confidence they need to succeed in the fleet. “Battle Stations” is designed to galvanize the basic warrior attributes of sacrifice, dedication, teamwork and endurance in each recruit through the practical application of basic Navy skills and the core values of honor, courage and commitment. Cimock is a 2000 graduate of Silverado High School of Las Vegas.
Air Force Airman Michael J. Harrold, the son of Michael Harrold of Howell and Darlene Rasmussen of Brick Township, has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio. During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, core values, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations. He is a 2008 graduate of Colts Neck High School.
Army Reserve 2nd Lt. Andrew N. Salomon, the son of Hendrick and Gessie Salomon of Marlboro, has graduated from the Army Medical Officer Basic Leadership Course at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio. The course is designed to train Medical Corps officers to be competent in and knowledgeable of the Army Care System, Army doctrine and basic officer-soldier leadership skills; have an understanding of Army organizations, operations, and procedures; possess an ability to apply the concepts of health protection for soldiers and their families; have the ability to communicate, interact and coordinate as a staff member; and orientation in military survival skills for the contemporary operating environment. After graduating from the course, the active-duty, National Guard or Reserve medical officers report to their current member units or new duty assignments, or return to their graduate medical studies. Salomon received a bachelor’s degree in 2007 from the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, N.Y.
Army Pvt. John C. Whitenack II, the son of John Whitenack of Marlboro, has graduated from Basic Combat training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission and received instruction and training exercises in drill and ceremonies, Army history, core values and traditions, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, rifle marksmanship, weapons use, map reading and land navigation, foot marches, armed and unarmed combat, and field maneuvers and tactics.
