By NJMEP
Morris Plains, NJ — February 10, 2009 — Governor Corzine the New Jersey Manufacturing Extension Program (NJMEP) and a coalition of supporters discussed below are inviting New Jersey manufacturers to participate in the "Next Generation Manufacturing Survey," a national survey being conducted by the Manufacturing Performance Institute (MPI), an independent global research firm. The survey will measure the readiness and capacity of New Jersey manufacturers to adopt world class manufacturing practices that have been identified as vital for future competitiveness and growth. The study, which is part of a coordinated national effort by the American Small Manufacturers Coalition (ASMC), is the first step in a long-term effort to help manufacturers weather today?s recession and improve manufacturing competitiveness over the next decade.
Governor Corzine is requesting all manufacturing owners, CEOs or senior level executives to participate in this important survey. Manufacturers throughout the state will receive an email with a letter from the Governor and a link to the study?s site. Manufacturers who do not receive the email and wish to participate can access the survey at http://www.ngmstudy-newjersey.com. The survey must be completed by March 15th.
Participating companies that identify themselves will receive a customized Benchmark Performance Report that will identify where they stand in relation to world-class strategies, and what can be done to improve performance in each area. Individual company data will be held in the strictest confidence and survey supporters will receive only aggregate data for the state and nation.
?The adoption of Next Generation Manufacturing strategies represents an historic opportunity to strengthen and improve the nation?s manufacturing base and achieve a long-term competitive advantage across all industries and sectors,? said Mike Klonsinski, ASMC board chair.
The New Jersey survey is being coordinated by NJMEP and is supported by: Bergen County Workforce Investment Board, Commerce & Industry Association of New Jersey, Employers Association of New Jersey, Hudson County One Stop Career Center, Hudson County Workforce Investment Board, Meadowlands Regional Chamber of Commerce, Mercer County Workforce Investment Board, Middlesex County College, Morris Sussex Warren Workforce Investment Board, New Jersey Chamber of Commerce, New Jersey Business & Industry Association, New Jersey Society of CPAs, New Jersey Technology Council, New Jersey Tooling & Manufacturing Association, South Jersey Chamber of Commerce and Union County College.
