Film program to be held at library

The Ocean County Library’s Toms River Branch, 101 Washington St., will host a program of area filmmakers’ independent short films, movie trailers and more at 7 p.m. Feb. 25.

Local filmmaker and award-winning screenwriter Darren DeBari will present the films and lead the discussion.

Typically, an independent film is one that is funded by the people creating the film instead of by a movie studio. The independent filmmaker has the freedom to make the movie he or she wants to see, without following the dictates of a large studio or corporation. Filmmakers may try to sell their work by publicly showing it, especially at film festivals held throughout the country.

The program is free and open to the public. For further information or to register, call 732-349-6200 go to www.oceancountylibrary. org.
