When a brilliant psychiatrist decides to murder his wife, he plans the perfect crime. The only problem is he comes up against a seemingly imperfect detective – the rumpled Lt. Columbo. That’s the formula for “Prescription: Murder,” a witty theatrical game of cat-and-mouse presented by Monmouth Players through Feb. 28 at the theater in the Navesink Library at the corner of Monmouth and Sears avenues in Navesink. Performances are Feb. 14, 20, 21, 27 and 28 at 8:15 p.m. and matinees on Feb. 15 and 22 at 2 p.m. Admission is $15, $12 for students and seniors. Two River Theater Company in Red Bank will present Stephen Massicotte’s touching love story “Mary’s Wedding.” Set against the backdrop of the Canadian Cavalry in WWI, this moving and magical play lives at the threshold between fact and fantasy. Performances run through Sunday, Feb. 22. Tickets are $34 – $60 and $24 for patrons 21 years and younger. The New Jersey Repertory Company, 179 Broadway in Long Branch, will present the National New Play Network rolling world premiere of Zayd Dohrn’s “Sick” through March 15. The offbeat comedy is about one family’s attempts to keep out the sickness of the world by isolating themselves in a house where all the windows are covered with plastic and visitors are unwelcome. The Provincetown Fringe Festival in Asbury Park presents “The Letters of Ethel and Julius Rosenberg” adapted by Marjorie Conn. The play is based on letters between Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, who were found guilty of conspiring to transmit the secret of the atomic bomb to the Soviet Union and executed in 1953. Performances are at Restaurant Plan B, 705 Cookman Ave. in Asbury Park every Sunday at 5 p.m. through March 1. Tickets are $35, which includes a four-course dinner and the play.
