Man charged with illegal gun possession

RUMSON — Police said a borough man charged with illegal gun possession remained in a hospital under observation on Monday.

According to Police Chief Richard Tobias, Seth Kronengold, 49, remained in Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch and had not been arrested.

Kronengold was charged with possession of an assault rifle Sunday after police said they confiscated an M-1 Carbine rifle, illegal in New Jersey, found inside the Ridge Road home owned by a relative, Tobias said. He said a helmet and other guns were also found.

According to Tobias, police went to the residence because a relative had been trying to get in touch with Kronengold for days but received no response. No one was harmed during the incident. He said no bail or hearing has been set.
