LONG BRANCH — A city teen is facing robbery charges for a home invasion on Ocean Boulevard.
On Jan. 31, police responded to an Ocean Boulevard residence for a report of a home invasion. Officer Christopher Walls was the initial officer on scene.
Walls spoke with three victims who were in the apartment when the suspect arrived. According to the victims, the suspect rang the doorbell and when the door was answered, the suspect partially walked into the apartment, pulled out a handgun and demanded a certain amount of cash.
One of the victims managed to get past the suspect and run from the apartment. The suspect grabbed the victim and forced her back into the apartment. The victims were then able to force the door to the apartment closed on the suspect and dial 911, according to police reports.
The suspect fled the area in an unknown direction, and no money was taken from the victims and no injuries were reported. The gun was also not recovered, according to reports.
On Feb. 1, detectives from the major crimes unit and juvenile bureau arrested a 15-year-old city juvenile and charged him with robbery, possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and criminal restraint.
The juvenile was confined at the Youth Detention Center in Freehold, according to reports.
