A three-car accident closed Route 27 at Snowden Lane for nearly six hours Friday, according to Princeton Township police.
The 10:36 a.m. accident occurred when a car driven by Jill M. Gyorgydeak, of North Brunswick, on southbound Route 27 rear-ended a car driven by Irwin Litt, of Princeton. Mr. Litt’s vehicle was stopped in the intersection as Mr. Litt attempted to make a left turn onto Snowden Lane, according to reports.
The impact caused Mr. Litt’s car to travel into the northbound lanes, where it struck the side of a car driven by Laura Hernandez, of Kendall Park. Ms. Hernandez’s car left the roadway and struck a utility pole. Ms. Hernandez was taken to the University Medical Center at Princeton for treatment of neck and back injuries.
As a result of the initial impact, Ms. Gyorgydeak’s vehicle left the road and struck a traffic signal, which collapsed onto the roadway.
Police cited Ms. Gyorgydeak for careless driving.
The state Department of Transportation reopened the roadway at approximately 4:30 p.m. Friday, according to reports.
