Re: Feb. 5, 2009 article, “Board rejects appeal for farm boy’s stand.” Once again I find myself disappointed in Mansfield’s governing body. The zoning board declined Matt Bassett’s right to have a farm stand. A hard-working boy trying to make an honest buck, is discouraged from doing so. Didn’t these people on Mansfield’s board grow up in Columbus, or the state? NJ is the Garden State! Columbus used to be a big farming community, with several roadside farm stands. Why snuff out these simple hometown pleasures? Isn’t there too much government involvement in our lives? Once again, shame on you, Mansfield.
Keep your head up, Matt. I don’t always understand why things happen as they do, but I know who is ultimately in control of the outcome. Jesus had many people and governments that came against Him. When we follow Him, we too will have trials (1 Peter 1:3-7). Remember, all things work together for the good of those that love him.
