Michael Karp of W. Windsor Township Planning Board
As an unpaid volunteer member of the West Windsor Township Planning Board, I am distressed with the outright inaccuracies and distortions reflected by former Mayor Carole Carson regarding the Board’s review of the draft redevelopment plan sent to us by the Township Council. All three sessions were televised and the entire proceedings are available by contacting the planning office to verify the following facts:
• The State Statute provides that the review be completed within 45 days of it’s receipt;
• The public was given several opportunities to speak at all three sessions and no time limit was imposed;
• The public was permitted to question the township’s professionals and consultants and again no time limit was imposed;
• Every written submission from the public was openly discussed point by point;
• Before the close of the second session, it was announced that the report to the council would be reviewed and voted on at the next session;
• At the third session the report was openly discussed page by page and again the public was invited to comment;
• The report contained more than 100 recommendations, many as a result of public comment;
• The Planning Board, by a unanimous nine-member vote, adopted the report and directed that it be forwarded to council.
The public was reminded that the report’s recommendations were non-binding and that if they disagreed with the board’s recommendations or had additional recommendations they should provide them to the council.
