PTO needs your support

Gina G. Gerstein, of Dayton
I am writing this in an attempt to shed some awareness on a recent problem we are facing in our school district.
I’ve been a resident of South Brunswick over 10 years and I’ve witnessed a steady decline in PTO involvement on every school level, from elementary through high school. The school budget is dependent upon state aid and their contribution doesn’t look that promising. Everyone is tightening their belts, and stretching their dollars to make it go a little farther.
But it is in the darkest of times where we can find our strength. There is something we can do. Get involved, be part of the solution, or just become aware of some of the obstacles we face as a community as well as the effects these obstacles might have on our children.
The PTO meetings are no longer monthly in order to accommodate parents’ busy schedules. The meetings are very informative, they don’t harass you to donate money or volunteer, and respect your time. If you’ve never been to one meeting, then come to one, and if you’ve been to one, then come to one more, just come.
Our town needs you, our schools need you, our children need you.
